Asian families have been warned to stay alert following a sharp rise in the theft of jewellery from homes in Cranford and Heston.

Burglars have plundered treasured bracelets, necklaces and rings worth thousands of pounds from homes in the area during the last few weeks.

Awareness of climate change and the need to protect the environment is growing and is not restricted to any one section of the community.

On Saturday 4th October Hounslow Friends of Faith is bringing together speakers and displays from different faiths to challenge and inspire people to do their bit for the environment

Lampton-peace-day-1-.jpgCrowds enjoyed traditional dancing and music from Poland to Tasmania at the fun day in Lampton Park attended by Cranford police.

At least 1,000 people turned out for the event, held as part of Hounslow's Week of Peace.

The event was organised by PCSO Imran Sheikh, of Heston Central SNT. Heston & Cranford sector inspector Lorraine Hibbit hailed the day as a huge success.

"This was all about celebrating cohesion by bringing people of all faiths and backgrounds together," she said.

The countdown has begun for local primary schools and youth groups to sign up for Mini Pots of Care, a fun and educational planting activity that raises funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The charity is inviting primary schools and youth groups aged 3-11 to get their hands dirty this October by growing daffodils for its Mini Pots of Care fundraiser, run in partnership with Yellow Pages directories.

alick-munro.jpgA leading local GP has slammed a much-heralded 'super surgery' in Hounslow as 'inherently unfair' to GPs and patients.

Last week, London's NHS chiefs announced the Heart of Hounslow health centre, in Bath Road, is to be transformed into one of the capital's first five 'polyclinics' as early as April.

But Cranford doctor Alick Munro (pictured), chair of the Hounslow Local Medical Committee, told the Chronicle: "What we're concerned about is patients living in the periphery having to go a very long way to obtain services that are already available locally to them. We're also concerned about continuity of care."

spamalot.jpgHe may currently be wowing the West End with his rousing performance as King Arthur in Monty Python's hit stage musical Spamalot, but noted comedian Sanjeev Bhaskar insists he still thinks of Heston as home.

The star of shows including The Kumars at Number 42 and Goodness Gracious Me was born in Ealing and grew up in Heston where the family lived above a launderette Sanjeev's father had bought, and he lived there until he moved away to study at Hatfield Polytechnic, now the University of Hertfordshire.

CRANFORD-MOSQUE_6246.jpgHundreds of Hounslow worshippers are celebrating after a controversial mosque won the right to remain open for good.

The owners of the former Royal British Legion Club in Park Lane, Cranford, were given a six-month stay of execution earlier this year after illegally converting it into a place of worship.
