The winning teamA team of cadets from Hounslow braved the bitter cold to triumph in a hard-fought cross country competition.

The senior girls team from Hounslow's 194 Princess of Wales Royal Regiment ran away with the annual Middlesex & North West London trophy last weekend.

That was until last month, when the youngster suffered two heart attacks at his home in Southall and medics discovered he had a hole in his heart.

Football and other forms of vigorous exercise are now strictly off the cards, but that hasn't stopped Jamie attending Heston Cadets every week.

Their event this weekend will showcase vegetables, fruit and flowers, floral art, cookery (including jams, jellies, bread and cakes), knitting, toys and craft work.

Formed in 1987, the Cranford Kestrels club is on the hunt out for its 200 past members to make the celebrations on September 27 extra special.
